Removing candle wax from carpeting is not as hard as it may seem.

Start by removing as much of the solid wax as possible by using a kitchen spoon to loosen the wax. Next put an ice cube on the wax to freeze it. The wax should harden enough to break it up and get more of it out. Be careful not to damage the fibers during this step. It is O.K. that some wax will remain and will be addressed in the next step.

Next, to get the rest of the candle wax out of the carpet, put a clean white towel moistened with water over the wax spot. Place a clothes iron, set on low, on top of the towel where the wax is for a few seconds at a time. Be Careful as the carpet fibers can also melt with too much heat. The wax will melt and transfer to the towel. Apply a new towel as often as necessary until you get out all of the wax.

If this doesn’t get all of the wax out of the carpet, or if some colored stains remain, you can next try using rubbing alcohol. Using a clean white towel, apply the alcohol to a towel and dab the area. Repeat this with a fresh towel until you get no more transfer of wax or dyes to the towel.

When you are done, rinse the area with clean water, blot up the excess, and set up a fan to dry the area quickly.

Removing red wine from carpet can be very difficult to say the least. The key to achieving the greatest success is to take action as quickly as possible. There are several household items that are readily available that can be used to attempt to remove the stain. Dish detergent diluted with water (approximately 2-4 drops to a cup of water) mixed with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, Hydrogen Peroxide (diluted), White Wine, Club Soda and salt is all common household items that can be used to remove wine from carpet. Which ever solution you choose the following procedures should be followed. It is important to always test the carpet in an inconspicuous area prior to attempting to remove a stain. First blot the stain with a white terry cloth towel starting at the perimeter of the stain and then working your way to the center to remove as much of the wine as possible. Be careful not to be to aggressive with the towel to avoid pushing the Tannins into the dye sites of the carpet fibers. Next dilute the stain carefully with your cleaning solution using a damp white terry cloth towel starting at the perimeter of the stain and work your way to the center making sure to blot the stain without aggressive agitation. Repeat as necessary until the stain is completely removed. Be careful not to apply to much soap or cleaning solution to the carpet as this can leave a sticky residue which can attract soils later on. Next lightly dab or rinse the area with cold clean water using a white terry cloth towel to help remove as much residue as possible from the area. If there is still some discoloration left the area can be covered with a layer of salt approximately 1/4 inch thick and then covered with a white terry cloth towel for several hours or until the area is completely dry. Finally the area should be vacuumed thoroughly to remove the remaining salt. It is always a good idea to consult or contact a Professional Carpet Cleaning Service anytime you have a difficult spot or stain. Professional Carpet Cleaners have additional cleaning products and procedures and Tannin Stain Removers that will improve your chances for success. A good Cleaning Service will be happy to assist you over the phone in removing the stain or they may have a crew in your area that can help with removing the stain.

Most Carpet Manufacturers recommend professional carpet cleaning by an IICRC Certified Carpet Cleaner every 12-18 months to maintain the warrantee. Regular Carpet Cleaning should be performed just like routine maintenance on you car or furnace. What happens when you don’t change your oil or your furnace filter on a regular basis? It wears out and requires additional maintenance and often times requires replacement before it is necessary. Carpets are the same way! Think of your carpets just like a giant air filter almost like a secondary furnace filter which harbors all sorts of dust, soils and allergens. Regular Carpet Cleaning with eco-friendly cleaning products can greatly improve indoor air quality which in turn improves the health of the occupants. In addition it also removes soils that cause damage to carpet fibers and greatly increases the life of the carpet.

Spring in Minnesota is always a common time for Carpet Cleaning and Upholstery Cleaning. In spring and summer we always receive a lot of calls regarding pet odors and accidents on Carpet. When urine comes into contact with carpet it provides the perfect breeding ground for odor causing bacteria. As temperatures and humidity increase it causes odors and bacteria to become more prevalent. There are many products available over the counter that claim to remove pet stains and odors. Outright and Natures Miracle are two of the common products we see used in peoples homes. These products are typically not very effective in removing the odors for the long term especially when multiple accidents have occurred. Items such as your eyes, nose and UV light can also be used to help aid in determining the location of contaminated areas. In reality it is very difficult if not impossible to completely remove odors and bacteria from carpet and padding because these materials are porous and there is no way to guarantee that all of the urine contamination will be removed. In fact there are no miraculous cleaning agents or potions to completely eliminate pet stains or odors under all circumstances. Instead it is best to use a combination of procedures to achieve effective results and this is best prescribed by an IICRC Certified Odor Control Technician. Some of the products that can be used are Acid solutions used to break down alkaline salts, rinsing agents used to rinse and neutralize the acid residue, Bio/Enzyme digesters, quaternary agents and odorcides or biocides. Carpet Cleaning procedures may include use of a large syringe or a Water Claw. Removal and replacement of carpet pad. Treatment and sealing or removal of flooring and sometimes wall materials and in some cases complete carpet replacement is recommended. Green Clean Carpet Care is always happy to provide free phone consultations and in home assessments to help determine the best course of action. Learn more about Green Clean by calling 763-789-9600 or see us on the web at www.greencleancare.com.

Here are few things that might indicate you are setting yourself up for a “bad carpet cleaning experience” . Low price is a common indicator that you might not get the best cleaning, low price almost always means “high pressure add on” or hastily performed service. Huge promises some companies will promise the world over the phone leaving the customer with expectations that even the best carpet cleaners can’t provide. Never had a complaint, if a company tells you they have never had a complaint it’s just simply not true every service company has complaints or issues at some point, it’s how they handle them that makes the difference, if a service person tells you they have never had a complaint their probably not telling the truth. Bragging about how many carpets they cleaned last week, watch out for this one. This is a clear indicator that the cleaner does not have your best interest in mind. Just because someone cleans a lot of carpets does not mean they do a good job. A good Carpet Cleaning company doesn’t have to do any of these things because they have a good reputation and they know that their quality and demeanor will speak for itself. So the next time you have Mr. Gods gift to Carpet Cleaning in your home you might want to just send him on his way and pick a company like Green Clean Carpet.Care.Restoration. 763-789-9600 www.greencleancare.com or another reputable cleaning company that has your best interest in mind.

There are several benefits to annual carpet cleaning. It’s not always a good idea to wait until your carpet looks dirty to have it cleaned. Even with regular vacuuming it’s still a good idea to have your carpets steam cleaned every 12-18 months. Carpets require regular maintenance and cleaning just like changing the oil in your care or cleaning your teeth. Most carpet manufacturers recommend annual cleanings by an IICRC Certified Cleaning Firm. Some manufacturers even require proof of annual carpet cleaning to maintain the carpets warranty. Waiting until your carpet looks dinghy or soiled to have it steam cleaned usually means fiber damage has occurred making it difficult to restore. In addition regular carpet cleaning with Green Carpet Cleaning Products can greatly improve your indoor air quality. Think of your carpet like a giant filter that needs to be properly cleaned. It will make the carpet last longer and improve the overall appearance not to mention a cleaner indoor environment. Green Clean Carpet Care is always happy to provide you with a free estimate go to www.greencleancare.com to inquire about our services. “Best in the Twin Cities”

Truckmounted Steam Extraction is still the best option for Steam Cleaning! When it comes to carpet cleaning the Truckmounted Units still give you the most value for your dollar. As of right now there is not a portable cleaning system that can match up to the performance of Truckmounted Steam Extraction at a distance of less than 300 feet. It’s important to remember that just because someone has a Truckmounted Steam Cleaning Unit that they do a good job make sure you get a referral, check references and check with the BBB to make sure they have a good reputation. Hopefully in the future Truckmount manufacturers will start focusing on more Green Technology when they design new machines.

Over my 20 years in the Carpet Cleaning Industry I have encountered countless customers that have had “Bad Experiences” with Carpet Cleaning Services. In my industry mediocrity seems to be the norm which results in unsatisfied customers. One of the biggest complaints is that the individual performing the service didn’t seem to CARE, didn’t take the time to do a good job and left the carpet too wet. A good cleaning Technician will always take their time to make sure the water is thoroughly extracted from the carpet. This means doing a 2nd Dry Stroke with the cleaning Wand to insure that most of the water is removed from the carpet. Overwetting Carpet can lead to all sorts of additional problems like Wicking, Browning or Microbial Growth. If you are going to hire a new Steam Cleaning Service you always ask if they perform the extra drying stroke or you can watch the Technician to make sure he’s taking his time with the cleaning wand. The Carpet should just feel damp not really wet after the cleaning is finished. A good cleaning service will always be able to provide you with references but the best way is to get a referral from a friend of relative who’s used the service. At Green Clean we really do care about our customers and their families health. Check us out at www.greencleancare.com and just ask for Shrek!
